Why CHS exists
CHS identified two critical issues affecting our community: the stark reality that fewer than 5% of Australians possess basic first aid training, coupled with the alarming surge in ambulance wait times, even for high-priority emergencies. To address these concerns head-on, CHS undertook to provide and champion free first aid and CPR training as well as to launch our First Line Medical Response Service. In addition, CHS allocates medical coverage for communal events and activities, and we provide onsite consulting to ensure AEDs, first aid kits and procedures are maintained.
Our fully inclusive ethos allows us to cultivate a diverse and extensive volunteer base, with individuals of all genders and levels of religious observance. In this way we are able to attract doctors, nurses, paramedics, allied health professionals and advanced first responders to volunteer with CHS.
